PART ONE: Half Yearly Reviews for those managers who have set goals with KPI’S to help measure progress towards them for their team for 2016
Thu July 21st 2016

Most managers I come in contact with report they're experiencing an exceptionally busy time, saying it only seems like yesterday that they set their goals for 2016 for their team. Nothing has happened since then.
So how is everyone progressing – do you actually know – do they know if they are meeting your expectations or not?
Following up does not have to be complicated and I guarantee it will be worthwhile.
Make a time to meet with each of your direct reports. Dust off the goals you set at the beginning of the year and review how they are tracking. In preparation for the meeting consider:
- Are they on track? (How are you measuring their progress? KPIs)
- Do the goals need to be reviewed? Are they still realistic – up or down?
- Do additional goals need to be added?
- What has the employee been doing well?
- What needs to be improved or focused on?
- Are there areas for professional and personal development that can be addressed over the next six months?
Don’t procrastinate, there will never be a better time to organise the reviews and investing in your people will pay dividends.
REMEMBER - the employee should leave that meeting feeling motivated, knowing exactly how they are tracking and what they are to focus on for the next period. Most importantly, they must feel they “own” their goals, that the agreed goals are personal to them.
If you haven’t set 2016 goals for your team, please read PART TWO, there is still time.
